84th Annual Academy Awards

The 84th Annual Academy Awards® will be presented 7 p.m. EST Sunday, Feb. 26, and Get In Media will give away a fabulous and useful prize to the reader who can most accurately predict the winners. A degree in statistical analysis is not required, though a crystal ball or some pull with PricewaterhouseCoopers could be beneficial. Use our balloting widget below to cast your vote in the 10 categories we selected (see How to Play and Ballot Rules, below). One entrant will win $100 to spend on movie tickets at Fandango.com. The ballot will remain open until 12:01 am EST on Feb. 25, 2012.
The ballot categories were selected to reflect the achievements of professionals working in artistic and technical areas of filmmaking, and to encourage our contestants to learn more about the nominees and their careers in the film industry. Additional information about each nominee can be found by following the links at the bottom of the page. Get In Media would like to congratulate all of the nominees for the recognition of their hard work behind the scenes—without sound designers, screenwriters, VFX, costumes, or the perfect musical accompaniment, those pretty faces on the screen wouldn’t have much to do. So join us in celebrating this year’s Oscars®, and good luck!

Ballot Details
We broke with Academy tradition to list the nominated person or people first, rather than the film. This reflects our commitment to highlighting the achievements of these technicians and artists. The one exception to this was in the Best Screenplay category. In this case, it was necessary to preserve the often-convoluted format of WGA credits. The Writers Guild uses specific phraseology to denote different levels of participation: “story by” credits the original writer; “screenplay by” credits the author of the actual script used during production. “Written by” indicates that both the story and screenplay credit are due to the same person. An ampersand (&) indicates a single writing team, while the word “and” is used to differentiate between two or more writing teams responsible for the work.

Here are the Rules
One contestant with the highest number of correct predictions will be rewarded with a $100 gift card to Fandango. In the event of a tie, the entrant who guesses closest to the dollar what the total box office gross for the Best Picture winner will be on Monday, Feb. 27, will be deemed the winner. Box Office Mojo will be used to determine the box office numbers. One winner will be notified by e-mail within one week of the Academy Award® broadcast.
The winning contestant must respond to the notification e-mail within two weeks to be eligible to receive the prize. If the winning contestant does not claim the prize within the allotted time, the prize will be awarded to the runner-up contestant. Get In Media staff, their family, and cohabitants are not eligible to participate. The winning contestant will be required to provide a valid name and mailing address to receive his or her prize. The prize will ship within two weeks of mailing confirmation. Get In Media and Full Sail University will not be held responsible for damage of the prize upon receipt, nor will Get In Media or Full Sail University be held accountable for loss or theft.
Restrictions
Get In Media staff, family, and cohabitants are ineligible to participate. Faculty and staff of Full Sail University, their family members, and cohabitants are not eligible to participate. Members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Academy Award® nominees, employees of PricewaterhouseCoopers, and those in association with the above listed are disqualified from participation.
